A family home that grew into a family business​

​

Eugene grew up just a few miles from The Ranch in the small community of Victoire, Saskatchewan. After many years of owning and operating grocery stores in Leask and Buffalo Narrows, he returned home to the Debden area and purchased the farmland.

​

For many years, the property was a working cattle farm, home to more than 300 head of cattle. Much of The Ranch looks very different today

The Bunkhouse was once the barn, and the area where the cabins now sit was once home to the cattle corrals.

​

Over the years, Eugene gradually transformed the property from a working farm into the place our guests know today.​

​

Along the way, he began opening rooms in his large family home to guests, eventually adding the cabins and converting the former barn into the Bunkhouse suites.

​

In 2024, Eugene's daughter Gina moved back home to Saskatchewan and began working alongside her dad to help manage and grow the business.

 

Today, Gina handles much of the day-to-day operation of The Ranch, while Eugene remains very much a part of the place he created.

​

Recently, Eugene experienced a stroke that affected his ability to communicate and resulted in aphasia.

His intelligence, personality and sense of humour are still very much there — he simply has difficulty getting his words out. So if you see Eugene around the property, please don't hesitate to say hello. He may not always be able to carry on a conversation the way he once could, but he still enjoys seeing and interacting with our guests.

The Ranch continues to be a family-run business, and we're proud to welcome everyone who stays here as part of the place we've called home for so many years.
